Zydus Antiviral Medicine Virafin got Approval for treatment of Corona

 

Virafin gets approval for treatment of corona, report claims to be negative in 7 days during the test.

Zydus claims that RT-PCR reports of corona-infected patients using Virafin have been negative in 7 days. Apart from this, the need for supplemental oxygen for patients has also reduced.

The second wave of the Corona epidemic is proving to be more dangerous than the first wave of last year. 

There are record cases of corona infection in India and due to this, a record number of people are being killed. 

Only limited medicines have been approved for its treatment and now in this episode, the Drug Regulatory Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has approved the anti-viral drug Virafine made by Zydus Cadila. 

The drug regulator has approved the Virafin Emergency Use (EUA) in moderate cases of corona infection.

This anti-viral drugmaker Zydus Cadila claims that the RT-PCR report of corona-infected patients has been negative in 7 days due to its use. 

Apart from this, the need for supplemental oxygen has also reduced, which means that they need to give supplemental oxygen for a short time.

Corona report negative within 7 days

Veerafin is an antiviral drug that has been carefully administered. This drug was given to corona patients at an early stage and showed significant clinical and virological improvement in moderate cases. 

According to the drug company, the corona test report of the corona infected who were treated with ViraFin came negative within 7 days and this happened in about 91 percent of cases. 

According to the pharmaceutical company, this drug has also been helpful in reducing the need for supplemental oxygen.

The pharmaceutical company has informed that the pegylated interferone alpha-2b (PegIFN) Virafine will be available only on prescription recommended by Doctors and has been made for institutional setups or hospital use, meaning that the drug will be available in hospitals.

Approval was done for liver diseases

Veerafin was originally approved to treat liver-related diseases due to Hepatitis C and was launched 10 years ago. Now this drug will be used to treat corona infections. 

The drug regulator has given it emergency approval after several successful trials across the country. Cadila Healthcare Managing Director Dr Sherville Patel said that this approval has been received at a time when it is very much needed. 

At present, there is a lot of shortage of Remedesvir for the treatment of Corona Infections across the country and due to increasing Corona cases day by day, the load on the health system has increased.
